Studying for SATs is a life course, not a crash course. If you haven't started thinking about itRead More till you are a junior, you probably aren't serious about it.

Hi eb50 and fellow concerned readers: For students at sophisticated schools with parents who haveRead More guided older students through the admissions process already, I agree. But a lot of would-be-serious applicants don't know the steps. I feel for them, and my Blogs, here and elsewhere, are to alert freshmen and sophs (and their parents) to the necessities of landing admission at a competitive college. My firm gets MANY parents calling us after some deadlines have passed saying "we didn't know". They resolve to start earlier with a younger child, and are resigned that "for our oldest, this was harder than necessary". Thanks for the input -- please spread the "early planning is important" word where you think well-meaning kids don't hear it. We didn't know? Start using your smart phone to get smart and do some research. But yes, I agree,Read More if your parents and you are clueless, these classes can help boost scores (assuming your student suddenly cares about learning)
