Citizens Bank announces special preview night at the Palace Theatre on September 12 to kick off Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series

To kick off the 2013-14 Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series, Citizens Bank and the Palace Theatre are hosting a special preview performance of the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical Rent on September 12 at 7 p.m. Citizens will celebrate the start of the 2013 academic year by making free tickets available to college students for the preview performance of this celebrated show.

Rent is Jonathan Larson's musical about a group of artists, many of whom live with AIDS, struggling to maintain their friendships. A re-imagining of Puccini's opera La Bohème, Rent follows a year in the lives of seven friends living in New York's East Village who learn to follow their dreams without selling out. The musical’s New York production won Tony Awards in 1996 for best book and best musical and is recognized as one of Broadway’s longest-running shows.
