The Nutcracker, Santa, and a Holiday Stroll

There's a ton of other things to do around the Granite State this weekend.

Saturday 

  • Get Ready for College. In Bedford at 9 a.m. on Saturday, prepare for college admissions. Register for a parents’ seminar with Joan Buchanan, a college consultant.
  • Honor the Fallen in Amherst. Volunteers will lay hundreds of wreaths for veterans at the Meadowview Cemetery in Amherst at 10 a.m. on Saturday. 
  • ‘Fez’tival of Trees. The last days for the Bektash Temple event in Concord will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The trees will be raffled off at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Bedford Bone Marrow Drive. Michael Guglielmo continues his mission to get people registered for bone marrow transplants. Stop by the Bedford Police Department from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and get registered.
  • See Santa this Weekend. If you’re looking to see Santa this weekend, here’s where he will be. At 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Charmingfare Farm in Candia. Then, at 1 p.m., he’ll be up at the Waterville Valley Resort in Waterville Valley hanging out there too. 
  • Merrimack Students Perform in Londonderry. Students from the Real School of Music in Merrimack will present their student showcases at Whippersnappers in Londonderry at 4 p.m. on Saturday. 
  • Gingerbread House Contest. Martha’s Exchange in Nashua will hosts a Home for the Holidays gingerbread house contest at 4 p.m. on Saturday. 
  • Gift of Lights in Loudon. The annual Gift of Lights display at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon is open from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. 
  • Downtown Nashua Stroll. The winter holiday stroll in Nashua will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Much of the downtown will be closed for fun and merriment.
  • The Nutcracker in Windham. The New England Dance Ensemble presents “The Nutcracker” at the high school theatre in Windham at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $20.

  • Milford Antiques. New England’s Weekly Winter Antiques Show will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club. Admission is $5 and more than 80 dealers will be presenting.
  • Wassail Concert. The Bedford Public Library hosts a concert by REWIND! Barbershop Quartet at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The concert is free.
  • Pets Love Santa Too. Stop by the Animal Hospital of Nashua/Amherst at noon on Sunday and Santa will be there from noon to 4 p.m. to take a picture with your pet. If you can’t make those times, stop by the Phesant Lane Mall at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and Santa will make an appearance there too. Make sure your pets are in a crate or leashed though.
  • Audition for Kong’s Night Out. The Community Players of Concord will present “Kong’s Night Out” and are looking for actors interested in presenting the excesses of 1930s New York City. Auditions start at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. 
  • A Kenny Rogers Christmas. The country icon will be at the Capitol Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday singing some of his favorite Christmas songs. Tickets are $58 to $80.
