Hardy Macia, who spent one of his last breaths requesting that Gov. Maggie Hassan approve a medicinal marijuana proposal for New Hampshire with a homegrown provision, passed away earlier today, according to friends and family. Macia, who had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, was stricken with the disease last summer while he was running for the 2nd Congressional District and assisting former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson's run for president. Macia was a husband and step-father of two. He worked in Canterbury as an app developer and worked as a civilian for Naval Ship Systems in Pennsylvania, in the 1980s and 1990s. He was president of Catamount Software. The Chinese national was studying statistics at Boston University. She was killed in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. Lu's Sina Weibo page already has 20,000 comments from shocked and upset friends (Sina Weibo is a Chinese social media service that combines Twitter- and Facebook-like features). Edward W. Colby, 37, of Peterborough, died Friday September 28, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Colby was born June 11, 1975 in Lowell, MA and was a son of Wayne and Linda (Atkins) Colby. He was raised and educated in Derry, and was a 1994 graduate of Pinkerton Academy. Mr. Colby resided in Derry most of his life and had resided in Peterborough for the past 4 years. Mr. Colby was employed as a machinist with Hitchiner Manufacturing of Milford, NH for the past 4 years. He enjoyed football and wrestling, body art and music. Robert W. Foster, 70, resident of Milford, NH, died unexpectedly on September 23, 2012, while hiking on Pack Monadnock Mountain in Temple, NH. He was born in Natick, MA on February 23, 1942, a son of Forest A. and Annabelle (Hudson) Foster, and was the youngest of eight children. He earned his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and his Master’s in Education from Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH. In addition, he received his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Foster made his home in the Amherst and Milford area for more than 40 years. He had been employed as a pilot for Eastern Airlines for more than 20 years. He later changed careers and began teaching at the Milford Middle …
